Elephante – The beginning of 2012 was addled with overzealous producers who thought any of their extra-noisey and overly “dub-step” renditions of Frank Ocean’s “Thinking about You” would bang. But the ‘drops’ and slurring synths underneath Ocean’s voice quickly grew annoying to listeners, and most of us turned an ear to anything that wasn’t authentically in Christopher Francois’ primal form. THEN I heard this remix. Tim Wu, boasting the stage name of ‘Elephante’, came correct with a well-mastered and complementary remix of the popular Channel Orange standout, “Thinking About You“. Starting with an feverish intro, the Michigan native smoothly slides into an entrancing reinvention of the classic love song, with electro-swooshes and the traditional pulsating and hand-thrusting moments that 2012 EDM has been so defined by.
